I recently acquired a gallon of coconut oil after trying it out at my sister Annalaura's house. She taught me a few uses and I've discovered a few more:
Mix it into peanut butter and eat it on apples or anything.
Mix a teaspoon into your cup of hot chocolate
Use it to cook your popcorn in
Fry shrimp with fresh peppermint in it
The popcorn, I must say, is spectacular. Especially with the pink Himalayan salt I got from my other sister, Gypsy.
Oh, and it's good as moisturizer for you, too.

Holy Moses, that all sounds good. I can't imagine procuring a gallon of coconut oil...where did you get it? Does it keep just fine?
And finally: what does Annalaura use it for?
Annalaura discovered a place in Oregon actually, mountainroseherbs.com that has all sorts of good deals (like affordable vanilla beans) and really really cheap shipping. They do have smaller amounts of coconut oil than a gallon. She uses hers as a moisturizer and she taught me the peanut butter and the hot chocolate...I think she also warms up baked squash in it in a sautee pan. Not sure what else. Fun, hm?
oh, yes, and it keeps forever in the freezer, but I take smaller amounts out and keep them for several months at a time at room temp because it's hard to work with cold.
Ah, thanks. She did mention that place to me before, but not the coconut oil.
